About PU College

S R S Group of Colleges are situated on a vibrant campus at P K Halli extension, N H -13, which is on the outskirts of historical fort town Chitradurga which is spread over 12 acre vast area with the prospect of hillocks on which the wind mills are installed and also a beautiful prospect of the tank (Pillekere) on the other side. The college building which resembles the famous amphitheatre houses three colleges. PU College and Heritage School have independent buildings one at the front and the other an adjacent one in four blocks. The Campus also has a well furnished hostel for girls. Hostel for boys will come up on the campus shortly.

Established in the year 2009. It is the leading of all institutes with a whooping strength of 750 in its short spell of 4 years. It does accommodate more than 12 sections, each with maximum 60 students only . Hence the strength has to be restricted to 700 only. State 4th rank in Science in the Board exam and top 5th rank in CET medical followed by 4th , 5th,5th, 22nd ranks in BSc Ag, Veternery Science, ISMH and Food Science and as many as 23 ranks below 2000 have proved the strength of the training facilities offered in the college. It has been consistently producing District and State toppers who get admission as ordinary students and come out in flying colours. . It has a specialized trainers to prepare the students for various competitive examinations and the Board Exams. It has come to be recognized throughout the academic world for its commitment to excellence in the pre university education and the training for K-CET, AIEEE, JEE ,CA-CPT and other competitive exams.

Ambience

S R S Colleges are not just an addition to S R S group of institutions. They aim at catering to the needs of those parents who are on the look out for colleges which not only take care of students but also provide them with an excellent and competitive learning ambience.

It certainly goes with the tradition of conveying things in the most natural style. Things here are consciously taught in order to help heterogeneous group get into their stride.

Students are encouraged to prepare for Seminars, Discussions, Oral tests, written submissions, Competitions, Stress interviews, Show biz, Quizzes, Expertise tests etc. More importantly, all students are encouraged to keep up 5 hour regular study schedule to achieve the target. Parents are also educated in order to avoid irregularities to the class and to monitor their children study at home regularly.

Curricular:

The college follows the state syllabus(now NCERT) prescribed for PU by the government of Karnataka with Kannada and Hindi as optionals. Those who have passed SSLC (10th standard ) or its

• Equivalent like CBSC,ICSE are eligible to apply for the 2year
• PU course either in Science or in Commerce.
• Co-curricular activities have been carefully designed at SRS.
• Apart from following the guidelines of PU board we introduce many initiatives to make students learn the curriculum with in the given period. For that purpose the students have to follow the timings given below.

Bridge course and Orientation

Bridge course enables the students to learn all basics.Students are made to learn the key things in the particular subjects in order to understand the subjects at the college level. Orientation is meant to create curiosity in the subject and learning. It is to motivate the students as to why they have to study that particular topic\subject and how to do that. Importance of Hand writing, listening, reading, writing and presentation are taught. Bridge course and Orientation are conducted in the beginning of academic year only.

Exams

Two terminal exams, one mid term, Three preparatory and annual examination are conducted apart from class tests and unit tests. Progress cards are sent to parents prior to the Parent-teacher meet, so that the parents can have a look at their children’s academic progress as well as their regularity to college by checking their attendance. Efforts are on to send the results via SMS.

Facilities Offered:

Library

The college aims at enhancing the present book ratio to 1:10 by supplementing more volumes. The college library enjoys adequate stock for the library goers to relish from either on borrowing or reference. Students are issued bar-code labels for quick access to textbooks.

Internet...Interactive boards

The students can have access to internet in the college if required. It is made available to students if it is essential from examination point of view or for projects or for seminar or other useful activities.

Interactive board helps the students to re-approach the same topic as it is saved on the board itself.

Laboratories

We have set up well-equipped , spacious and beautifully designed laboratories for Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Computer Science. UPSs have been installed to have uninterrupted power supply. Adequate number of apparatus and requirements make every student to have hands on approach to experiments.

Hostels

Well furnished and new Hostel for girls is on the Campus. And the hostel for boys is at a short distance and they are supervised by wardens. The inmates are provided with hygienic and wholesome food, hot water etc. UPS has been installed to have uninterrupted power supply. Round the clock supervision helps students to utilize their time for studies.

Canteen

Very spacious canteen with all its grandeur is on the campus which offers you your dream menu and hygienic food to relish .Students get food at concession rates on producing the ID cards. Beautiful lawn and water body characterise it.

College bus

To ensure safety and hassle free commute the management has made arrangements for conveyance. Our college busses ply from all corners of the town to the campus regularly.

Activities:

Activities Offered: All activities offered at SRS are self trainers in the students’ personality.There are plenty of activities like Expertise Tests, Kitchenomix, Wiz-World, Sem-Com, Seminars, SRS Sankranti. Etc

2. Kitchenomix: drawn to the taste of LIFE...

   an activity exclusively for commerce students to take economics to the Kitchen. Students have to prepare a dish/ dishes out of the items they have chosen and that too without fire and give their account(explanation) on that to the Panel.
   Students have to be familiar with vegetables, serials, peas, grains, milk items, green leaves, spices, dry fruits and fruits.
   They must also be familiar with the nutritional and the medicinal value; their sources; market value; their dependence etc.
   Team presentation. A team only 6 students.Teams are trained with TASKS to master presentation Winners are awarded the title "KITCHENOMISTS".
   Every programme earns the participants valid points and it is displayed on the notice board. Non performers’ chart is also displayed.

3. Wiz World:

   a trainer of personality in itself
it aims at taking the students to day to day affairs- through which we can make students realise the importance of getting in touch with a must know things. It also aims at training the students in the art of speaking which really requires this kind of activity to get the art into one’s fold.

• Two lords or ladies to select 5 cartoons and to analyse.
• Two lords or ladies to select 2 sports events (better- if other than Cricket) and to analyse.
• Two lords or ladies to select 2 items related to commerce/industry/technology and to analyse.
• Two lords or ladies to select 2 top advertisements and to analyse.(one of them should be issued in the interest of the public)

4. Show Bizz opening new vistas

• Team presentation.
• To select a product - eg- Mysore Sandal Soap
• Introduce themselves and their company’s aims and objectives-history- work force-assets – partners- marketing etc
• Introducing the product
• Nature of the product-its advantage, shape, size, quality, vision to reach all customers, marketability etc (if any one of these points are not covered in the presentation you can’t gain credit)
• Ingredients in the product as to show that the interest of the consumer is protected.
• There is an elimination round
• They are given only 6 minutes

5. SRS SANKRANTI:

   It is a forum for the students to express themselves in as many as 32 talent items. Stress Interview, Product Launch, speeches, writings, Actings(Mimeshow), Rangoli, Paintings, Dances, Traditional Shows and manymore.

6. Cultural/ literary/personality development

   The aspirants are provided with a number of opportunities and programmes to cater to the development of personality.
   'Talent-Hunt' –a week long drive – is the perfect forum for the budding talents to exhibit their latent talents in as many as 35 talent items. Speakers club, Science club, commerce club launch programmes and conduct sessions on a wide variety of topics. Group discussions and showing visuals etc are a special ones. Wall-magazine encourages students to write regularly. Achievers in various fields are invited to inspire our students.

  college magazine stands as a forum for creative writing and to hold mirror to our activities. It comes out once a year

7. Counselling...

   Counselling helps us to take students into confidence and for students to take us into confidence. Counselling is an attempt to refill in the students the confidence to excl irrespective of their talent and calibre. It goes non-stop to address students’ genuine problems in their academic career. Career Guidance programmes are also offered to students.

8. Parent-teacher meet..

   Parent-teacher meet is a special one at S R S. Its main objective is to know if we are discharging our duties the way parents and students aspire it to be. Parents suggestions, complaints, etc are welcome at the meet and they are thoroughly discussedand assessed in the best interest of the institute. It is held twice a year. Parents are welcome to visit the college on Saturdays to enquire after their wards performances.

Admission - How to Apply

Candidates who have passed SSLC or its equivalent examination can get the application from college office or they can download it. You can get it in person or get it by post by sending a DD of Rs.100 Drawn in favour of Principal, SR S PU College,P K Halli ext, Chitradurga. payable at Chitradurga. The college remains open from 9 am till 5pm on all working days. The applications duly filled in should be sent to the college office along with the required documents. Selection shall be based on merit and the select ones shall be sent a call letter and the candidates have to attend the interview for admission with his\her father or mother. Admission is made if it is satisfactory.

Documents to be produced

• a) Following documents need to be produced by the candidate at the time of admission:

1. SSLC Marks Card : (2 Photo Copies )(If it is downloaded from the internet it has to be undersigned in approval by the head master)
2. Passport size photograph 6: (Name of the student should be written on the back)
3. Photo Copies of certificates of merit in other activities (If any)

• b) Following documents should be produced once they receive them from the school:

  1. SSLC original marks card (with 2 photo copies)
  2. Conduct certificate (with 2 photo copies )
  3. Transfer certificate (TC)(with 2 photo copies)

a) Candidates shall be declared admitted only when they pay all the required fees and agree to our rules and regulations.

b)Candidates requiring hostel and bus facility should fill in a separate form.

Admission procedure starts immediately after SSLC results are declared.

Uniform

College uniform will be provided by the college.

Uniform is a must for 4 days : Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday. They can come in casual dress (colour Dress) on Wednesday and they have to come in white and White on Saturdays.

Dress Code

Boys shall wear pants and shirts of decent measures (Tee-shirt, Low-waist jeans, sleeveless etc are not allowed)

Girls shall wear churidars and pant and shirts of decent measures (sleeveless, offcuts, skirts, midis etc are not allowed)
